A seven-day trip cannot cover all of Sardinia, so the best strategy is to choose a logical route rather than rush between distant corners. One of the most rewarding itineraries follows the western side of the island from Alghero to Cagliari.
Days 1–2: Alghero. Explore the historic centre, Catalan-influenced streets and waterfront, then use the second day for the Riviera del Corallo: Le Bombarde, Lazzaretto, Porto Conte or Capo Caccia.
Bosa and the west coast
Day 3: Alghero to Bosa. The coastal road south is one of the most scenic drives in Sardinia. Spend time walking through Bosa’s colorful streets and along the Temo river before continuing or staying overnight.
Sinis Peninsula
Days 4–5: Oristano and Sinis. The peninsula combines beaches, wetlands, archaeology and small villages. Tharros is the essential archaeological stop, while the surrounding coast offers a very different landscape from Alghero.
Finish in Cagliari
Days 6–7: Cagliari. Explore Castello, Marina and the city’s markets, then spend time at Poetto and Molentargius. If your flight allows, use the final day for a short excursion south or east of the city.
This route works best with a car. Seven days is enough to experience several sides of Sardinia without turning the holiday into a constant drive.
