Travelling around Sardinia with a film camera is easy to imagine: harbour mornings, village streets and a few frames saved for the coast. Finding somewhere to develop those rolls takes more planning. A shop advertising photo printing may work only with digital files, while negative scanning may mean digitising film that has already been developed.
For Cagliari, we found a specialist explicitly advertising film development. For Olbia, the available evidence is less conclusive: a historical interview identifies a laboratory, but does not establish its current opening hours or services. This guide separates those situations rather than promising a walk-in service we could not verify.
Cagliari: contact Zarpos before bringing your rolls
Zarpos’ own darkroom page describes a studio in Via San Lucifero, Cagliari, offering manual development of black-and-white and colour film, including negative and positive film. It lists formats from 35mm to large-format sheets. The website provides a contact form, the email info@zarpos.it and telephone +39 347 321 6963.
That makes Zarpos a useful first enquiry for an analogue traveller. It does not mean every film stock can be dropped off without notice, or that scans will be ready before your flight. Send the exact film name, format and number of rolls, then ask about the required process, appointment arrangements and completion date.
A practical message would be: “I am visiting Cagliari with two exposed rolls of [film name and format]. Can you develop them, provide digital scans and return the negatives? I leave on [date]. What is the total price and confirmed collection time?” Ask for the precise entrance or meeting address when arranging your visit.
Olbia: historical references need a fresh confirmation
A 2021 Lomography interview with Andrea Mignogna discusses Positive Lab and its analogue work in Olbia. It is a useful historical lead, but an old interview is not a current service directory.
We could not verify a current Olbia walk-in laboratory offering film processing from an up-to-date first-party service page. That does not establish that none exists, or that Positive Lab has closed. It means travellers should obtain a direct confirmation before making a special journey or leaving irreplaceable rolls.
When contacting a photography business in Olbia, ask specifically for “sviluppo pellicola,” followed by your film type. “Stampa foto” and “scansione negativi” alone do not answer whether an exposed roll can be processed. If development is outsourced, ask where the film goes, who handles the order and how long the complete return journey takes.
A mail-in alternative, and what to include in your order
If collection during your stay is impractical, ACDigitale advertises mail-in film development, with options for 35mm, APS, 120 and disposable cameras, and C-41, black-and-white and ECN-2 processing. Its development-only option excludes scans and prints; combined services are separate choices.
Before posting anything, confirm the correct order option, dispatch instructions and return destination. A hotel address is useful only if the package will arrive while you are still there and the accommodation agrees to receive it. Returning negatives to your home address may fit your itinerary better.
For either a local or postal order, agree on these details:
- The exact film stock, format and processing service.
- Whether the quoted price includes scanning, prints and return delivery.
- Scan resolution, file format and download arrangements.
- How the original negatives will be returned.
- A realistic completion date that accounts for your departure.
Keep a simple record of the rolls you hand over and the order confirmation. The best travel arrangement is the one you can confirm in advance: a verified Cagliari enquiry, a directly checked Olbia lead, or a postal service with clearly agreed deliverables.
Service information checked on 6 October 2026. Availability, prices and turnaround must be confirmed directly with the provider.
