For one month of remote work in Cagliari, start with the accommodation quote for your exact dates. A short furnished stay is a different purchase from a long-term rental, and the lowest monthly figure on an advert may apply only when you commit for several months.

As a worked example, a solo traveler renting an advertised central apartment and allowing for food, local transport and coworking could set aside about €2,490 for the month, before flights, insurance and refundable deposits. This is a planning scenario assembled from an accommodation example and stated spending allowances, not a measured city average or a guaranteed booking price.

The one-month rent is the number that matters

A furnished apartment advert in Cagliari’s Marina district, checked on 5 October 2026 and marked updated on 29 August, illustrates the difference. Its headline rent is €990 per month, but the description assigns that rate to stays of seven to nine months, with €200 in additional expenses.

For stays shorter than three months, the same description asks €1,390 plus €200: €1,590 before any separately charged items. It also states that at least one monthly professional cleaning service is compulsory. Ask how that is billed, because the wording should not be treated as proof that every charge is covered.

This is one listing, not evidence that all Cagliari apartments cost the same. Availability, minimum-stay acceptance and the final contract still need confirmation. The advert also lists a €2,000 deposit: that is a separate cash requirement, not an automatic addition to the month’s living expenditure if it is returned.

Compare several written quotes on the same basis: exact dates, bills, cleaning, internet, platform or agency charges, cancellation terms and deposit conditions. A cheaper headline is not necessarily a cheaper month.

A transparent budget you can adjust

The following example assumes one adult, no rental car, a furnished apartment and a mixture of cooking and eating out. Apart from the accommodation example, these are editorial spending allowances rather than verified average prices:

  • Accommodation and listed expenses: €1,590. Based on the short-stay rate above; additional charges must be confirmed.
  • Groceries: €300. A self-imposed allowance equivalent to €10 a day over 30 days.
  • Meals out and cafés: €150. Adjust this separately from groceries to avoid counting the same meals twice.
  • Local transport: €50. A planning pot, not a quoted ticket price; check tickets for your routes and dates.
  • Workspace: €220. An allowance to compare with an actual coworking quotation.
  • Mobile connectivity: €30. An allowance for a suitable plan or top-up, including any activation cost.
  • Personal spending and contingency: €150. For small purchases and unexpected costs.

Those entries total €2,490. Replace the accommodation figure first, then change the other allowances to match your habits. Removing the workspace allowance brings the example to €2,270, provided the apartment really offers a workable setup. Extra cleaning charges or more restaurant meals would increase it.

Price the working day as carefully as the bedroom

Open Campus publishes a fixed workstation at €180 per month plus VAT and a ten-day-pass option at €90 including VAT. These are advertised options to verify directly, including availability, booking conditions and the applicable final invoice.

A full month and occasional visits solve different problems. Before choosing, check the location against your accommodation, access hours, private-call arrangements and whether you need a dedicated desk. A low desk price loses its appeal if the journey does not fit your working day.

For the apartment, ask about a proper desk, chair, upload performance and whether the connection is shared. “Wi-Fi included” establishes an amenity, not that it will handle your particular workload. Keep a mobile backup plan if uninterrupted calls matter.

Leave room for arrival costs

The monthly total above excludes getting to Sardinia, airport transfers, insurance, work subscriptions, visa or administrative costs, taxes and a rental car. It also excludes refundable deposits from expenditure while recognising that you may need that money available upfront.

Decide whether your month is mainly a city stay or a base for frequent trips elsewhere. Budget intercity travel separately rather than assuming a local transport allowance covers every excursion. Use the CTM operator’s website to check city ticket options before purchasing.

A useful Cagliari budget begins with a confirmed place to sleep and work. Once those two costs are clear, food and leisure become choices you can control. Build the month around your own quotes and routine, and keep the deposit visible as a cash requirement alongside the spending total.
